Last month’s session of the ImageMakers Photography class hosted by the Youth Arts Academy and Sony Electronics, Inc. received a special visit from Sony’s Artisan of Imagery, Spencer Pablo, to share his travels and experiences as a professional photographer. He taught the kids how to transfer photos taken from their Sony cameras to their tablets and cell phones and taught them editing techniques. When all of a sudden….the class was stormed in on by a Stormtrooper & Sandtrooper! While some kids were left speechless, others were jumping for joy by the surprise.
Unknowingly to the kids, Mr. Pablo arranged for these two, Corey & Jennifer Dobbs, to make an appearance during his presentation. The Stormtrooper/Sandtrooper represent the southern Californian Garrison of the 501st Legion. The two that came over have been part of the 501st Legion for a few years. He is a retired Naval officer and his wife whom was by is side is currently continuing her education.
After visiting with these nine students, posing for photos while Mr. Pablo taught the kids about “directing” their models, the Stormtroopers/Sandtrooper headed down to the busy games room where over 50 clubhouse members were able to talk with these engaging special guests. Young students from the Montessori Preschool also got wind of the visitors and came running out to greet them as well. The cameras that were used were Sony cameras provided by Sony, as well as some very new ones from Mr. Pablo’s personal collection. It is Mr. Pablo’s hope that photography outreach classes like ImageMakers inspires Sony to further their support in programs like this.
