YAA hosts a series of Music Labs throughout the school year to help build community with our current YAA students as well as other Boys & Girls Club members, and kids from the community who are interested in getting involved with and learning more about music.
These sessions are drop off sessions for kids to hang out with one another and learn and play music together. Professional musicians and teaching artists lead masterclasses on a variety of topics. Each session will also include an open jam session for students to play together and strengthen their musicianship and music communication on previously selected songs.
Lab #3: “Rhythm of the Night”
Build Community, Learn from the Pros, Meet other Musicians. PLAY MUSIC TOGETHER!
When: March 3, 2020
Ages: Youth of All ages
Cost: $20 per student
Where: YAA Backroom
Join us at YAA for a Parent’s Night Out on the drums! The first hour will consist of a Master Class led by our amazing Percussion Instructor, Josh Jones. Learn the basics of the drum kit and auxiliary percussion instruments, work on your rhythm, perfect your technique, and expand your knowledge of percussion.
After the class stay for a Community Drum Circle where everyone gets a chance to make some music magic! Percussion instruments will be handed out and we will go over the ins and outs of how to create a fun and engaging drum circle. Bring your own hand drums and rhythm instruments to share if you have them! This is a great way to jam with your friends, try out your private lesson skills with other musicians, and just have fun playing music with other kids. Instructors will be on-site to assist and play along with all students.
This is a drop off event for kids only. Parents can enjoy a kid-free evening, knowing their children are in a fun, safe, and musical environment!
