Michael is a classically trained pianist and is currently pursuing a degree in music at Grossmont College. He began playing classical piano at the age of nine and later became a member of the National Piano-Playing Guild Auditions six-years in a row, as well as a member of the National Fraternity of Student Musicians for six-years in a row. Michael’s involvement in the YAA began at the age of eleven when he started taking woodwind lessons and participating in the concert and jazz bands.In 2005 he was awarded the Boys & Girls Club Performing Arts Youth of the Year. In addition to classical piano, Michael is also a jazz pianist, saxophonist, clarinetist, and flautist. He is a professional jazz musician around San Diego and enjoys passing on his knowledge and love of music to his students whether it be piano, woodwinds, jazz or classical.
